Photo Club – Downtown Hot Springs (Normal)

I joined the Arkansas Outdoor Photography Club (AOPC) late last year and have really enjoyed the fellowship with other photographers.  They are in Little Rock which is a bit of a drive for me so I was thrilled when they put Hot Springs on the calendar of places to shoot!  We got together June 8th and had a great time!  I've shot downtown Hot Springs a few times already so I decided to go for some of the more unusual angles, locations, and processing styles to vary things up.

Bump Chair Shop – A Constant in a Changing World

In a world that seems chaotic and ever-changing, it is sometimes refreshing to see things that are constant. I had the joy of shooting an old chair shop recently. Little did I know that Mr. Bump was a local legend! This shop, as you can see in the photo above, has been around since 1870; and it looks like things haven't changed too much over the years.

The making of the Justified Quartet CD wrap

I've had some people asking me how I created the CD album artwork for Justified Quartet.  Well, that's actually a fairly complex question because it was a complex project.  So, I decided to break it down for you with progressive photos!

Random shots at my parents’ house (macro / HDR)

Had some free time at my parents' house so I did some random photography. This was a hard shot to compose and capture with the light.  Just going for something a bit different from the norm. Smoked meat.  Enough said! And a few macros while we're at it: And my favorite shot of the day...

Lake Catherine Waterfall 5/22/2013

I've been out to Lake Catherine so many times now that I don't even get all that excited about shooting it anymore.  But, I had a great opportunity to meet up with a couple of friends there and that makes is that much more fun!  I tried to get a few different angles again just to shake things up.

Dam Mountain Trail

After visiting the cascades at the Ross Foundation, I still had some time so I went to Lake Catherine State Park.  I go here a lot as it's a beautiful park.  I had never hiked the Dam Mountain Trail before though.  So, I made it my goal for the day!

Cascades at the Ross Foundation

I took advantage of my Friday morning after yesterday's rain to go and find a series of cascades at the Ross Foundation.  I had never been to this location before so it was a real treat!  The area was SLICK though so I had to be extra careful.  I slipped and slammed my tripod into a boulder at one point!

1937 Plymouth

1937 Plymouth

I'm usually not much of a black and white photographer, but when you've got a beautiful 1937 Plymouth, it just screams for it.  My brother-in-law, Russ, is a car fanatic.  He knows his stuff and enjoys fixing them up.  This was a recent classic he and his cousin Wesley bought.  It re-sold so quick that I couldn't get any shots in a more natural setting.  It's sitting on a trailer waiting to be hauled away!  It would have looked awesome one a rustic dirt road somewhere (not that he would let it touch a dirt road).
