Fall Drive to Ponca

Fall Drive to Ponca

I was SO looking forward to driving up to Ponca early in the morning to shoot waterfalls.  The colors were peaking and weathermen were warning about getting up to 4 inches of rain! Yahoo! I got totally excited over that wonderful combination! Well, weathermen stink! We got less than an inch and waterfalls just weren't flowing. I almost canceled my trip completely but decided to take a photo journey anyways. It was a blast as I got to explore new areas and take in the beauty around me.

Foggy Sunrise at Lake Catherine

Foggy Sunrise at Lake Catherine

Fog is something I really enjoy photographing.  It can be tricky to capture properly, but it makes for some beautiful scenes!  These were taken at Lake Catherine State Park one morning. The first shot below isn't all that spectacular, but I loved how the sun was bursting through around the bend. My next shot I liked simply because I was able to capture some ducks swimming across the bay. This one is definitely my favorite. Be sure to click on it to see it full size on my SmugMug page to truly appreciate it.  The light, fog, lake, trees, mountains... a beautiful scene! And...

Pinnacle Mountain Hike

Pinnacle Mountain Hike

As crazy as it might sound, I had never hiked to the top of Pinnacle Mountain until recently.  I'm only about an hour away from this beautiful spot, but this was my first visit. Let me preface this by saying that I was a little over-confident!  I run a decent pace for a mile and run for about 5 miles.  The hike up Pinnacle is only about 1.5 miles round trip.  Well, add on top of that about 20 pounds of photography gear, a tripod, and a constant vertical incline and you end up with a very humbled Todd!

Garrett Excavation – Meet Grant

I'd like to introduce you to Grant Garrett, owner of Garrett Excavation. Grant is a fellow 1994 grad from Lake Hamilton High School.  We didn't know each other too well back in school, but well enough that I can call him a friend.  Grant asked if I'd be willing to visit a few of their job sites to take some photos for various promotional needs.  One of which was to print a large poster to be gifted to a few clients.  I guess this was my first official "corporate job" and I'm very thankful he gave me a shot.  I love taking photos of dramatic scenes with lots of grit, grunge, and details.  This...

Weaver Wedding

  • September 9, 2013

Nick and LeighAnne are a very special couple.  Why?  Because they're great people of course.  Oh, and they were silly enough to trust me to shoot my first ever wedding!  I think LeighAnne and I were in competition for who was the most nervous that morning!  LOL!

A Road No More

I took a short hike along the top of Hot Springs Mountain the other day.  Along the way, my journey took an unexpected turn that was quite interesting. I quite literally took "the road less traveled."

Falling Water Falls and Keefe Falls (almost)

Had a great time Saturday with some friends and my nephew, Ethan.  We've had some great rainfall which is odd for Arkansas in the Summer so we headed to north Arkansas to get some waterfall pictures.  When we arrived, there was big storm going through which made the shoot challenging and the water was roaring!

Heritage – The Story of Dallas Bump (Photo Book and Video)

This was my first attempt at what I'm calling a "Legacy Package."  I wanted to provide the family with something special for the man the family looked up to in life.  This brought on a little added pressure in my opinion because I wanted to exceed expectations.  Read on to learn how I approached this special project and how it came together.

Grandpa’s Fishing Gear – The Making Of…

Grandpa’s Fishing Gear – The Making Of…

I thought I'd take a few minutes to explain how I took my most recent shot.  First of all, this was a special photo for me because it is my grandpa's old fishing gear.  He passed away many years ago and I really miss him.  He was one of those guys who was the "real deal."  He said what he meant and he meant what he said.  He was the spiritual leader of the house and the entire family looked up to him for it.  I took this shot yesterday so I could post it today for Father's Day.
